The atmosphere was pleasant and nicely decorated for Christmas. The food was delicious and the service by our waitress Melissa and others was awesome. All the staff we encountered was very pleasant.

Went for my birthday. Food/ambiance were excellent. Had the special artichoke appetizer. My wife had osso bucco and I had seafood fra diavlo. Both were delicious, although not much spice in the sauce. Our waiter, Bill, was great, too!

We were there the night of an event at the Bushnell. Place was packed. Our reservation was for 7:00 but didn’t get seated until 7:25pm. After 10-15 minutes of being ignored I told a server who was not assigned to our table where our server was and that we had been ignored. He took our order and eventually our server showed up. We had terrible service from her all evening. Once the crowds left for the show, we were one of 4 parties left on our side of the restaurant. Then we had literally 4 servers and the hostess waiting and checking up with us. Our main server continued to be occupied somewhere else and provided limited attention. I did provide a 15% tip but probably should not have. The fact we were ignored and after speaking up about the service which did not improve until after the majority of customers left was not acceptable. We Although the food was good, the service is also important. We will not be dining at Peppercorn’s again

However, the food was not up to the standards that this place has offered/met in the past, or at least inconsistent in meeting them....Menu READS great, but execution +/-. Excessive dressing added to one salad/appetizer, & entrees (2 of 4) arrived "cool" rather than warm/hot. Since our two guests were "foodies", they were underwhelmed. Sad, as this place has been a reliable "go to" for excellence in the past. (We kidded at our table that perhaps the chef was off and the sous-chef was covering that evening....but fear that maybe there's been a change in chef/oversight since our last visit......)

We are long time fans of Peppercorns! We moved to the shoreline but when we lived closer we were there a few times a month or more. Dino knows how to cook and the staff is VERY professional and service is 100% on point! We would go so far as saying we would consider selling our beach home and moving back just for Peppercorns!

It was busy evening and seating was very crowded. Had to physically move table to fit into chair which was on top of the person behind. The tables are very close with a narrow aisle where only 1 waiting staff can fit to walks up and down to tend to customers. 3 small slices of bread in bread basket and basket taken away when done before meal. Loud noisy environment when busy so if sensitive to noise can be problematic. Staff was attentive and Food was overall good. Pasta and Filet excellent; chicken dish disappointing. Not the romantic dinner I envisioned. Ask for tables closest to front window area, which seemed to have made a difference in atmosphere.

The food was wonderful. The appetizer of stuffed zucchini blossoms with lobster was so light in texture but intensely flavorful. The steaks were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The portions are generous, especially considering the quality.

I ordered the fish stew for lunch, ($26)and even though the entrée was delicious the portion was very small, and it didn't have the appearance of a stew. Luckily there was enough bread to fill me up. My wife however loved her meal.

Food was nicely prepared and presented. Bread was excellent. Artichoke app, clams and mussels app and house salad were delicious. The pumpkin ravioli was delicate and lovely, but a little too sweet for a main course. It tasted more like a dessert. My husband's gnocchi bolognese was very good. Chocolate bread pudding was excellent. Chef definitely has talent. Service was slow even though we dined early and it wasn't busy at all while we were there. Ambience was pleasant, although the carpeting looked dirty and worn. Detracted from the overall sophisticated atmosphere.

The food was prepared wonderfully - but the portions were a tad small. We had the salmon which was cooked to order perfectly with a corn truffle sauce that left you wanting more. The bread was generic as was the plain EVOO served with it. Salads were substantial with an exciting blend of greens. The server was clearly new, but enthusiastic and supported by her co-workers in a positive manner. I would definitely recommend it to others and attend again myself.

I specifically asked for a corner table when reserving and it was not marked down so we ultimately ended in teh back room at a 6 top round tale in the corner. The $32 scallop & shrimp meal consisted of 3 scallops and 2 small shrimp that had the taste and texture of ones taken from a bag of frozen, already cooked shrimp. Very disappointing for that price. I've been many times before when it was far better.

The food was very very good. The menu was interesting and unique. I felt our server was working very hard< but the food delivery was slow. My sense was that the kitchen was backed up and the restsursnt wasn't that full. Normally this would not have been a problem but we were going to the Bushnell after dinner. Total elapsed time from when we entered Peppercorn till whn we left was about 80 minutes.

I'm never disappointed at Peppercorn's. The lobster ravioli is phenomenal as is the osso bucco. The service is always excellent. I have been coming here for 12 years and have never had any complaints. As an Italian from a family of foodies, that's a significant compliment!

We told pour waiter at 5:45 PM we were seeing a show at &;30 PM. He assured us that wouldn't be an issue. Other diners seated after us got their meals; our entrees arrived at 7:05 PM- 2 of which were undercooked and two arrived a few minutes after the other. The food was excellent. Really delicious. Our waitress was not attentive and dismissive. During our meal a gentleman came in off the street and started panhandling at all of the tables in the restaurant. I let the waitress know because I thought she should, and she seemed unhappy that I pointed it out to her. It took about ten minutes for our wine to be brought to our table, and in the meanwhile we were ready to order but despite walking past our table half a dozen times she waited until she brought our wine to take our order. At the prices that are charged and the upscale environment of the restaurant, I expect more friendly, more attentive service. She was just adequate.

The food and service at Peppercorn's are consistently excellent. However, on this particular visit, I spscifically asked that my dish be made with minimal oil and/or butter, and our waiter assured me that that would not be a problem. But, when the dish arrived and I began eating it, it was clear that the chef had not taken care to prepare my meal as I had requested, and it, in fact, contained an excessive amount of fat. My dining companion had ordered the same dish, prepared in the normal way, and both looked exactly the same - glistening with a great deal of oil. The waiter again assured me that the chef had prepared the dish with as little oil as possible, but I consider myself an amateur chef and I know I could have prepared that dish in a much more healthful way and it would have been just as, if not even more, delicious. So, yes, go to Peppercorn's for the outstanding food, just not if you have any dietary restrictions.

Peppercorn's is certainly one of the best restaurants in the Hartford area. It's a shame that the first thing on the table - the bread - is mediocre. The crust is crumbly and the flavor bland. The rest of the meal was superb!!!!

I frequent Piccolo Arancio more than Peppercorns because its closer to home. Both are excellent. It would be helpful for the restaurant to follow the directions for tipping indicated on the restaurant.com gift certificate, for it is confusing and embarrassing to discuss this at the table after dining.
