Amazing friendly service and wonderful food and wine. Loved the walleye and au gratins.
Noisy environment, typical neighborhood bar furnishings, all out-of-line with the food pricing and the rude refusal to offer a birthday dessert because the day wasn't the exact date!
We started to seat ourselves when someone approached us and said we had to wait at the door to be seated. There was no sign that said that or we would have waited to be seated.
Staff was phenomenal and friendly. The food was tasty and very fast!!! High quality food!!!

It was really busy when we got there, absolutely packed. There was a table waiting for us as we had a reservation. Since we were there for a leisurely birthday dinner, the service was perfect. We got an appetizer, then drinks, then salad and entrée. Nothing was rushed and at the end they gave my guest a free birthday dessert! Overall excellent experience!

I had the twin lobster tails, they were sweet and cooked well, my wife had the trio medallions of beef which she loved, aslo liked the au gratin potatoes and chopped salad

Server was very irritated and blamed my husband for ordering the juicy Lucy stating that's how they cook the burger. My chicken kiev was average - felt like it was something from frozen dropped in the fryer. Disappointing....

The food here is really superb---everything tastes fresh and made to order.
We arrived early and sat in the bar area. In the beginning there was a large party there and it was quite loud. Once they left,it was great.
Bennett's has THE best breakfast in town! The omelet's are light and fluffy. The west seventh skillet is excellent. The service is always exceptional.

We order burgers which were great. The fries are even better. My wife does not usually eat her fries, but she could not resist. The waitress (bartender) took our order and delivered it to us. We had to hunt her down after that (for our bill). She was caught up talking with the locals.

Bennett's is one of our favorite restauants in St. Paul. Always have had great service and the food is outstanding!!

The walleye was cooked perfectly. It was one of the best I've had there.
Very nice and clean restaurant with a great atmosphere. Staff was extremely accommodating and the food was fantastic. The $11 bacon cheddar burger reminded us of the $15 one we usually get at Twin City Grille; and the Mac & Cheese with tomatoes and applewood smoked bacon was better than any we've had.

We had a reservation and although there were open tables we were set to be seated at a table that had customers sitting already.
The server didn't understand your app or program. She was very short with me at first, running to serve the only other customer in the establishment. I had to hold my phone open to try to discuss with her the steps to take on the app. She said I had to wait for the owner to show up. Finally, I pushed the hotlinks to where the certificate showed up, forfeiting my chance to "Exchange" to another supplier in your app. It worked out, but I'll not buy a Bennet's again.

Would prefer to be greeted in a friendly manner at the door. Our phone in reservations were not documented. There was however an open table for us. Sever (we had her before) could be pleasant & friendly she consistently is not. Seems kind of crabby, she's just doing her job. Sorry. The food is good and we love the martinis.
We had Ashley as our waitperson, and she was very attentive. I had the lobster roll, and it had plenty of lobster in it. However it was rather flavorless. A mayo base dressing would have been better.

The server was excellent and attentive. The baked potato was dry and over baked. Ribs were plentiful although dry even though covered with BBQ sauce. This was not their typical qualities if food that I've had at previous visits.

My husband and love Bennett's. The burgers are huge and the fries are to die for. My husband had the Ford Road - a chicken sandwich on a hoagie bun with bacon and a spicy mayo and he LOVED it.

Small, cozy restaurant - nothing fussy, but that's the way I like it - we called ahead for a reservation - which I HIGHLY recommend on a Saturday night, but they were able to accommodate on short notice and even sat us when we arrived early (ahead of our reservation. Love, Love, Love the Surf and Turf Burger - my only regret was that I filled up on the AMAZING Spinach and Artichoke dip and couldn't finish the entire burger.

This place is a St Paul institution. We sat on the patio on a beautiful summer day and the service was great. They pour a good drink and our food was delicious.
Unfortunately both the salmon and walleye were overcooked, the last time I was in the walleye was undercooked and the pork chops were overcooked and they also have shrunk in size from two 10oz to two 8oz chops. I don't think I will return to eat dinner there but the happy hour does look interesting, drink prices are great and appetizers sound appealing. One more note, the house chopped salad is delicious and the au gratin potatoes are fantastic everyone should give both a try.

We loved the prime rib, our steaks were done the way we ordered them, but they were cold. The potato and veggie were both hot but our steaks were cool to the touch. NOT okay for our wedding anniversary dinner or for a Chophouse.

Casual, lively place. Sports TVs. Had dinner on a Friday. Service people were friendly, attentive and accurate. Had Cajun Meatloaf which was good with just a touch of spice, not overwhelming. Short ribs needed a few more hours in the roaster, more like steak than fall off the bone ribs. Might have to give them another shot.
Prices too high for type and quality of food and atmosphere. Tables crammed in a small space. Limited parking, mostly on street. No obvious host station. We greated someone first before they greated us and this was after waiting.

We have since eaten there one more time - I thought the food and service was good the first time and excellent the 2nd time - however while we were dining the 2nd time an employee was sat down in the dining room next to our table and given a written reprimand for I believe leaving early one night - he worked in the kitchen - another diner noticed as well (there were 10 of us in our party the 2nd time as well) and we were SHOCKED that this was handled out in the restaurant instead of in a back room or area - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

Service was good, waitress was nice and fast. The fries were way too salty! And my lobster roll was way too salty also. It's a no brainer to me to always season very lightly with salt, as there is a great big bottle of salt sitting on every table so that the diner can decide if they want to eat an extremely salty mean or not. You can always add salt, but it's difficult (wiping down every fry) or impossible (can't remove it from the lobster roll) to remove.

This is the first time we've been disappointed. Cocktail had a weird flavor and food was overcooked. Ribs are usually wonderful but this time they were dry and crisp, overdone.

The flat iron steak on the lunch menu was filled with gristle and the cole slaw probably the worst I've had. The scallops app had only 3 scallops on it for $13. That said, my husband really enjoyed his cajun chicken fettuccini. Guess I ordered the wrong item!!

I didn't know what to expect, but the reviews were good, and we just loved it. It seemed like a really happy place, definitely a neighborhood bar and restaurant, with excellent food. We both had the sirloin, and it was probably the best sirloin I've ever had in a restaurant (and I've eaten in some expensive steak places). The appetizer menu is amazing. We will definitely be back.

I decided to use my coupon but didn't realize it was a MN Wild Game night. The place was packed. I sat at the bar and had great service along with a delicious steak.
very crowded, chairs and tables absolutely crammed in the place, noisy.we had reservations and still had to wait quite a while to be seated.
The only issue was we had to wait about 1/2 hour for our reservation. The food and waitstaff were great.
First time eating at Bennett's. Friends knew it previously as Mitch's. Warm reception, got a booth as requested during reservation and before it became really busy. Great waitress, knowledgeable on requests and very helpful. Food and drinks were excellent, I had Prime Rib special. All of us said we would come back again to try other menu items.

The atmosphere is ok. it is an older bar. The food is what you go there for.Every item we had made in house. The salads are very good. To make good liver and onions takes some thought. They were good.

Indoor temperature was too warm for such a hot and humid day, but the service and food were good.
We were having a nice time with cocktails before dinner. My daughter ordered a steak rare and it came back charred and medium. She reported to a wait staff who apologized and said that she would get another steak in a few minutes. It was over ten minutes and our original waiter seemed to ignore us and offered no apologies or offer to make things right. Luckily another waitress helped in the interim. All in all, it was a disappointing experience which was unusual for this restaurant. We may be leery to eat there again.

offer more sizes in steaks, 20 oz ribeye seems too large especially for a woman.Also need more choices for shrimp or a shrimp ribeye combo would be great.

We had reservations. We were given a table by the door. A lot of traffic & cool air from outside. Many tables in better locations, were vacant while we were there.

Surprised Bennett's does not honor Restaurant.com cerificates during special events at the Excel Center (down the road) or during dinner specials. Not decalred on certificate or when you enter the venue. Our server made it right.Somewhat loud due to college basketball playoffs.
The server was incredible!!!!!! She went out of her way to see to it that our dining certificate was honored - not to mention the good service provided and upbeat personality. The food is always wonderful too!

We ordered short ribs and the pork chops. Both were tough. Coffee was cold and muddy. Waitress was not too friendly. Soup was watery. "Wild rice" was actually a pilaf with very little wild rice. The mandated 18% tip was increased by the waitress to $10. It should've been $9.18.

Bad Walleye strips which were actually flat discs. My 26.00 steak was tough and half fat. The other steak ordered at the table was tough and way under cooked. The first one to arrived was sat but never waited on until the rest of us arrived.. No service until 20 minutes in.....Tip was automatically added to bill without our knowledge and we tipped again.He did not deserve 60.00. WE will never return...

Bennett's is a great mix of neighborhood restaurant/bar and linen covered table restaurant. Our waiter was funny without being obnoxious. And the steak was amazing! Cooked to perfection and not covered in sauce.
Great time took our daughter for her birthday. She and her boyfriend had never been and they were very pleased. They will now be regulars, too.
My husband loved the short ribs. I had a ceasar salad with salmon. The salmon portion was very generous but a little dry. Overall it was very good.
Firstly the food was fantastic. Kim, our server was very attentive to our table, so much so in fact that I left her a double tip. I don't eat red meat but I will certainly recommend the Pork Chops, my girlfriends Roasted Chicken was delicious as well. The Chop Salad was wonderfully refreshing. We shall certainly return to Bennett's and will most likely make it a regular dining spot on our list. John E.

We thought the prices were a little high considering the atmosphere. Prefer having a choice in salad dressings. Booth we sat in was very large, we could not sit back because the table was so far away from the seat. The server was great.

It was very warm in the restaurant. I know it was a hot day, but it was really uncomfortable. And the staff was sweating and scurrying around so much, it just wasn't a relaxing atmosphere. We kept hearing the staff talk about how there was no air conditioning in the kitchen. As a diner, I don't want to hear that - made us feel uncomfortable.
The Moscato we ordered was not chilled, so we could not order it. The chicken pie was not as flavorful as it has been in the past.

For the prices, we expected more in terms of quality. The salmon I had seemed dry. The other members of my party though the food was good but not outstanding.
For the price of the food I was very disappointed. I ordered the ribs and they were so tough I could barely cut between the bones. Also they lacked flavor where I almost wanted to ask for more bbq sauce. My husband didn't like his steak and both meals were $16 each. We could have went to Applebees for the same price, had more food and tasted MUCH better!!!
The food was alright, nothing special. Overpriced for the quality of food. Dinner salad was much like a bag of Dole with a few tomatoes. Baked potato very boring and plain. Sirloin was cooked well, but again - nothing special. Service was good. For a Saturday night, the place was empty. After my experience, I would say that people expect more for that kind of money. Give them more or drop the prices and they would probably have a successful place.

The service nor the food is aligned with the prices. I ordered a filet medium, and it arrived rare, as did my companion's steak, a sirloin, which was also ordered medium. I sent my steak back and again, it came back rare. The salad and sides were acceptable, however, nothing I would have expected from a fine dining restaurant. I believe they are closer to a "bar" atmosphere than a fine dining restaurant as their prices are impressing upon customers. The servers and cooks they employ most definately are what I would expect from a less expensive restaurant.
Corey (waiter) is phenomenal. he is a major reason as to why come back again and again.

The food was cooked incorrectly. Due to the length of time it took to remake my food, it was decided I would simply watch my boyfriend eat his meal as I went hungry. Aside from taking the price of my meal off the bill, there was no attempt do anything additional for us. It was as if it did not matter to them. I will however, say the waitress was polite. Aside from that, we will probably not return.

Good variety on menu - everything is always good tasting. Atmosphere is a bit loud - music is loud so guests have to talk louder to hear plus bar patrons are a bit noisy so it can get too distracting to enjoy the meal. Service usually attentive.

We had a brief wait to be seated at our table, so we proceeded to the bar. Seats were very comfortable for bar chairs, and the service couldn't have been better. Our bartenter was fast, efficient, and took time to engage with everyone. She made our short wait very enjoyable. We were seated by a very friendly gentleman, and our waitress Lisa was amazing! She treated us like family. The service, and food was excellent! Combined, it made for a very nice evening. Look forward to our next visit!

This was not the first at Bennett's but the food was probably the best this time so will probably go back.
I had the short ribs, good flavor, but a bit dry. My fiance had the ribeye steak, which was prepared perfectly, I do wish you served aged steaks.

I ordered the raspberry salad and they didn't have the main ingredient, raspberries. They didn't even take off any money for not having them..I had to ask and then they gave me 50 cents off, which was like a slap to the face. Never will dine there again.
The wait for our food was quite long (45 minutes) and the restaurant is small, but the food was good.

The meatloaf sandwich was not that good. The menu stated that the meat loaf was served on bread with mashed potatoes and gravy. it was not worth the $8.00. I would not order it again. The BLT sandwich was excellent.

We went before the dinner hour started but the owner talked to the chef and allowed us to order off the dinner menu. Very nice of them. It also meant we spent more than we would've had it been just lunch. It was quiet not busy at all we were the only table seated and a few patrons at the bar and yet service was very slow we had to go get the waitress to tell her we ready to order, but food was wonderful.

a couple of us had your rasberry salad which I felt was not as good as in the past. Not much on it for $11.00. I think it is over priced for what we recieved.
